DuPont spent over $1.2M lobbying government in 3Q

WASHINGTON — DuPont spent more than $1.2 million in the third quarter to lobby on biotechnology, energy efficiency and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.

DuPont, officially known as E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., also lobbied on patent reform, taxes, chemical plant security and climate change legislation during the July-September period.

Besides Congress, Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont lobbied the White House, the departments of State, Commerce and Defense, and other federal agencies, according to the report filed Oct. 20 at the House clerk's office.

DuPont and other major chemical manufacturers struggled during the recession as demand fell for their products, which are used in everything from toys and plastic bags to automobiles.
