Calls are being made in the North West today to amend the civil partnerships bill to give equality to gay couples who have children.
The Bill, which gives legal recognition to gay couples for the first time, was introduced in the Dáil last night.
While the introduction has been welcomed, the bill has come in for criticism for leaving gay couples who have children together in a vulnerable position when it comes to family law.
Hayley Fox Roberts from North West Pride says while the bill is a positive step forward, it doesn’t go far enough and lobbying will continue.
